Robots vs. Simians: The Deadliest Ever

It’s only a matter of time before either the monkeys or the robots take over the world. But who will be first? Our power meter tracks their progress and lets you know who to keep your eyes on.

February 9, 2011 – The Deadliest Ever

One way of estimating the world domination of robots and simians is to analyze their potential deadliness. While most of us have been led to believe that many of the movies featuring lethal machines and primates are fictional, the majority of paranoid conspiracy theorists believe these films to be, in truth, documentaries.

They kind of have a point. I mean, just because the flicks aren’t narrated by Morgan Freeman doesn’t mean they couldn’t be actual footage.

Either way, we can glean some important information about our future overlords by their portrayals on the silver screen, television, and comic books, as well as real (yes, real) life. According to one website, here’s a list of the top 20 deadliest robots:

1. Sentinals (The Matrix), 2. Box (Logan’s Run), 3. MQ-9 Reaper (U.S. Military), 4. Cylons (Battlestar Galactica), 5. Unicron (Transformers), 6. MQ-8 Firescout (U.S. Military), 7. Ultron (Marvel universe), 8. Sentinals (X-Men), 9. Sid 6.7 (Virtuosity), 10. Maximillian (The Black Hole), 11. Megatron (Transformers), 12. Screamers (Screamers), 13. Terminators (The Terminator films), 14. Hector (Saturn 3), 15. The Gunslinger (Westworld), 16. Gort (The Day the Earth Stood Still), 17. Gladiator (U.S. Military), 18. Replicator Carter (Stargate SG-1), 19. Cain (Robocop 2), 20. Mark 13 (Hardware).

In comparison, here’s a list of the top ten deadliest monkeys in “film” according to another website:

1. In the Shadow of Kilimanjaro, 2. Night of the Bloody Apes, 3. Planet of the Apes, 4. Dead Alive, 5. Phantom of the Rue Morgue, 6. Creepshow: The Crate, 7. Monkey Shines, 8. Link, 9. The Ape Man, 10. King Kong.

I don’t know about you, but when I compare the two lists, I think they’re both pretty scary. The robots probably have a slight edge here when it comes to being the deadliest, but it’s closer than you might think.
